How the Chapter fits together
A council is the local Knights of Columbus body to which individual members belong. A chapter brings together representatives from multiple neighboring councils to support the well-being and promotion of the Order in their locality. The California State Council serves the statewide jurisdiction.
The Southern California Chapter serves 21 districts and 81 subordinate councils in the Greater Los Angeles areas covered by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The current online directory lists 74 confirmed council assignments and will be expanded as additional assignments are confirmed.
Our objective
The Chapter’s primary objective is to promote the well-being of the Order within the Greater Los Angeles area where it was organized. Chapter activities shall not compete with activities sponsored by the California State Council or subordinate councils.
Our founder and mission
Blessed Michael McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882 to strengthen Catholic men in their faith and provide financial protection for their families. Today the Order continues that mission through the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
